The purpose of the dress code at Nativity is geared toward simplicity, neatness, uniformity, and consistency. Children come to school to learn. Nothing that detracts from the learning process is appropriate in the classroom.
The primary responsibility for compliance of dress code lies with the students and their parents, enabling the staff to focus on its primary educational goals.
Pants
Proper fitting dress-style uniform slacks in khaki or navy. Pants must fit at the waist and not be excessive in length. Stretch pants are allowed for K-2nd grade only due to buttoning and their young age.
Shorts
Khaki or navy uniform shorts may be worn year-round. Shorts should be a modest length and not go below the knee. No cargo shorts.
Jumpers/Skirts/Skorts
Girls may wear uniform-style khaki or navy jumpers and skirts that are no more than 2 inches above the knee. Skorts that do not look like shorts from the back may be worn.
Shirts
Oxford, polo, or turtleneck style shirts in white, navy, or light blue are to be worn. A plain white t-shirt with the same sleeve length may be worn under uniform shirts.
Eighth graders may wear the official 8th grade class shirt year-round.
Sweaters & Sweatshirts
Logo-free, plain crew neck, V-neck, or cardigan sweaters in gray, navy, or light blue may be worn. Sweaters or sweatshirts should not have zippers, trim, or hoods. Nativity Catholic School cross-logo or quarter-zip sweatshirts purchased from Nativity's online apparel store, HighTower, are acceptable.
Socks
Socks should always be worn. Socks must be solid white, gray, navy, or black. Small symbols such as the Nike “swoosh” are acceptable. Girls may wear solid white, gray, navy, or light blue footed tights in the place of socks. No sparkles or designs on the tights.
School spirit days are celebrated on Fridays. Every Friday, students may wear Nativity spirit shirts with uniform bottoms.
