Nativity Catholic Preschool is the beginning of the Nativity Catholic School experience. Our preschool is a Catholic early childhood development program for 3 and 4-year-olds. The loving, caring environment allows children to begin the separation process between school and home. Our program emphasizes social development and kindergarten readiness.
Social Studies
The students participate in daily calendar activities that discuss the day, week, month, and year.
Science
Students will learn about their five senses and how each sense is used. We discuss the weather during our daily calendar time. Students also learn about plant life cycles, baby animals and their mothers, and other science topics.
Language Arts
Students learn to recognize and print their names. Instruction focuses on the letter names, learning the sounds each letter makes, and words that begin with those letters. Each day we read stories.
Music
Preschool uses music to learn and practice our daily skills. We sing each day during circle time. The children learn songs about the days of the week, months of the year, colors, numbers, shapes, letters, and many other things.
Visual Arts
In Preschool the children are encouraged every day to use their creative imagination. The Art Center is a great time for the children to experience the use of paint, playdoh, cutting, pasting, drawing, and creating!
Physical Education
The Preschool schedule allows time for Gross Motor Play. We go outside and learn to use our muscles on the playground equipment. We also play in the gym using equipment such as jump rope, balls, and a parachute!
Math
Preschool Math focuses on number recognition and counting. Students practice making patterns and sorting items. STudents also work on learning shapes.
Religion
Preschool religion teaches us that we are children of God, students learn the Bible is a special book that tells us about God. We also practice saying our prayers and the Sign of the Cross. The students learn how to show love to our families and friends by being more like Jesus.
